Video Tips For Your Wedding
By Paul Agung
Congratulations! You're getting married and you've settled upon a date. You're starting to book caterers, bands, and reception halls and you've decided you want to hire someone to do wedding videography for your wedding. You're well on your way to having the wedding of your dreams. If you would like your memories of your beautiful wedding to be in more than just your dreams, there are several important things you need to keep in mind when having someone do wedding videography for your big day.
One of the first ones has to do with whether or not you want your wedding videographer to record your wedding ceremony, reception, or both. Deciding that now will help the wedding videographer know how many batteries and how much film or extra memory to bring. You'll also have to tell the wedding videographer how long the wedding ceremony and reception are expected to last.
Another thing to keep in mind when booking a wedding videographer is whether your wedding is indoors or outdoors. Indoor weddings require different lighting and sound than outdoor weddings. With indoor weddings, it's also possible for the person doing your wedding videography to plug their camcorder into an outlet in case of a battery emergency. If your wedding is outdoors, special precautions might need to be taken to protect the wedding videographers camcorder from the elements. Electronics are notoriously picky when it comes to heat, wind, rain, or dirt. If the wedding videographer's camcorder gets ruined, odds are good that you won't have any wedding videography to speak of for your wedding.
Much like with wedding photography, a bride and groom need to decide if there are any special moments they would like the wedding videography to capture. By deciding upon them and getting them in writing ahead of time, the wedding videographer can pay special attention to those moments, ensuring they catch them on their wedding videography. It's difficult to restage special moments once they've happened. Advance notice of what moments are especially important to the bride and groom will keep the wedding videographer from missing them entirely.
If the bride and groom would like the person they hired for the wedding videography to take footage of the reception, special thought needs to be given to what aspects of the reception they would like recorded. How much of the reception do you want videotaped? Would you like wedding videography done of the guests and bridal party recording blessings, thoughts, and well wishes for the new couple? Those are just a couple of the questions that need to be answered for the reception being included in the wedding videography.
Finally, if at all possible, the bride and groom should include the wedding videographer in the wedding rehearsal. Doing so allows the wedding videographer to know ahead of time where the ceremony will be taking place, who will be standing where, who will be saying what, and how long the ceremony will last. The better preparation will result in better wedding videography for the newly married couple.
